Itineraries
Day 1 - Dar es Salaam to Ruaha National Park
Pick up from your hotel in Dar es Salaam and drive with packed lunch to Ruaha, one of Tanzania’s best kept secrets. The drive to Ruaha is a long stretch, about 9 hours, but is truly fascinating and gives you a real feel of the African countryside. (A convenient flight can be arranged at an extra price).
Overnight at lodge/tented camp in Ruaha on Full Board Basis.
Days 2 & 3 - Ruaha National Park
Enjoy two full day safari drives within Ruaha National Park with packed lunches. The remoteness of Ruaha gives you the perfect impression of a real safari in wild Africa.
Return to lodge/tented camps in the evenings and overnight in Ruaha on Full Board Basis.
Day 4 - Ruaha - Mufindi Highlands
After breakfast, depart and drive to Mufindi Highlands, Choice of activities at the lodge or relax enjoying the cool climate and stunning scenery.
Overnight at lodge in Mufindi Highlands or alternative on Full Board Basis excluding drinks.
Day 5 - Mufindi Highlands to Mikumi National Park
After breakfast drive to Mikumi with packed lunch. Early afternoon arrival at Mikumi National Park. After lunch and freshening up, set off for a late afternoon game drive in Mikumi.
Overnight at lodge/tented camp in Mikumi on Full Board Basis excluding drinks.
Day 6 - Mikumi to the Nyerere National Park
Wake up early and delve into an early morning safari drive in Mikumi National Park.
Return to lodge for breakfast and depart with packed lunch for the Nyerere National Park, formerly the northern part of the enormous Selous Game Reserve. The journey will take you approximately 7 hrs through the most amazing and truly wild and untouched areas of Tanzania. Arrive at Nyerere NP for overnight at lodge/tented camp on Full Board Basis excluding drinks.
Day 7 & 8 - Nyerere National Park
Wake up for a very early breakfast and dive into a very adventurous activity – walking safari!
You will join a professional guide and an armed ranger as required for a walking safari into the wilderness experience on foot.
This is a very enlightening trip where you will learn a lot about the flora and fauna of the reserve and its inhabitants.
Return to lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon, experience a boat safari on the mighty Rufiji River. You will glide through groups of hippos, crocodiles, villages and see amazing bird life along the way. Return to lodge and overnight at lodge/tented camp on Full Board Basis.
Day 9 - Nyerere to Zanzibar Historic Stone Town
After breakfast you will be transferred to an Airstrip for your scheduled flight to Zanzibar. Upon arrival in Zanzibar, you will be met by our Tontu representative and transferred to hotel in Stone Town.
Afternoon at leisure; walk around the hotel area and get to know the locality. Overnight at hotel in Stone Town on Half Board Basis.
Day 10, 11 & 12 - Zanzibar Beach Resort
After breakfast, our Tontu representative will transfer you to the beach resort. Afternoon at leisure at beach hotel.
Dinner and overnight at beach hotel on Half Board Basis.
Next two full days on the beach enjoying the sun and sea. Dinner and overnight at beach hotel on Half Board Basis.
Day 13 - Zanzibar to Dar es Salaam
After breakfast, Tontu's representative will transfer you to the airport for your flight to Dar es Salaam to a hotel of your choice or for your onward flight to your home country.
End of Tontu service.
